The Friends of the Ansonia Nature Center, Inc. consists of over 200 members and volunteers from Ansonia and surrounding communities. The group is dedicated to helping the Nature Center carry out its work. The adult volunteers assist the director in coordinating the center's programs, planning the activities, and making things work. It is also the volunteers and Junior Rangers that maintain the trails and help injured animals.

The Ansonia Nature Center....

includes 104 acres of woodland, pond, stream, and fields with two miles of nature trails for teaching, study, and exploration. An interpretive center currently houses a library, office space along with conservation, animal and natural history exhibits. This facility also serves as a hub for a wide range of nature courses and recreational activities. More than anything else, however, the center is people working, learning, helping and having fun together. It is the hundreds of school children who come to the NatureCenter with their classmates to learn about nature and its creatures, to enjoy nature, and to learn to live in harmony with their environment. It is scouts using the center as part of their training. It is families spending time together on an owl prowl or in making syrup. It is young and old discovering the natural world enjoying its peace and tranquility.
